LOOK AFTER YOUR LOVELY NEW LENGTHS
A little care.
A little every day.
Use a 100% sulphate free shampoo and a lightweight conditioner recommended by your stylist. Rinse thoroughly. Apply a small amount of nourishing hair oil through the mid lengths and ends only, keeping conditioner and oils away from attachment points. Avoid product overload, which can encourage tangling.
Always apply a suitable heat protectant spray before blow drying, straightening or curling your extensions. Follow the product instructions, use the lowest effective heat and keep hot tools away from attachment points.
Brush gently and take extra care around attachment points. Separate your bonds daily using the technique your stylist shows you.
Before bed, make sure your hair and attachments are completely dry. Secure your hair gently as advised by your stylist. A silk bonnet is advised to help reduce friction and tangling while you sleep.
Never sleep with wet or damp extensions, and keep your maintenance appointments to help protect your natural hair.
SUNSHINE, SWIMMING AND YOUR HAIR
Holiday hair, handled with care
Suncream matters. Choose a mineral sunscreen using zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, and check that it contains no avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane), octocrylene or oxybenzone. Some sunscreen ingredients can stain processed extension hair pink, peach, orange or brassy tones, especially lighter shades.
Keep all suncream away from your hair, including residue on hands and shoulders. Tie your hair up before applying it and keep protecting your skin as usual.
Before swimming: saturate your hair with clean tap water, then use a protective product recommended by your stylist for your extensions, keeping it away from attachment points. Keep your hair gently secured and out of pool or sea water wherever possible.
After swimming: rinse straight away with clean fresh water, follow your washing and conditioning routine, and dry the attachments fully. These steps reduce exposure but cannot prevent all damage. Limit excessive sun exposure and cover extensions with a towel if using a sunbed.
Your extensions questions
Can I have extensions if I have curly hair?
Yes, you can. At your consultation we will look at your natural texture, the finish you would like and which extension method and hair texture will blend best with your curls. We will also talk through styling and aftercare.
How much will my extensions cost?
Your quote is personal to you. We will discuss the method, hair and fitting prices at your consultation before you decide.
How long will my extension hair last?
Our supplier’s guide is around six months. With careful aftercare, the hair may last longer, although this is not guaranteed. Without the right care, it can lose softness, condition and its best appearance much sooner. Products, heat, swimming and regular maintenance all make a difference.
When should I book maintenance?
Nanos usually need maintenance every 6 to 8 weeks. Tapes usually need maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks. These appointments are needed throughout the life of your extension hair. Your stylist will recommend the right timing for you.
